概述
运动教练都是高素质的, multi-skilled health care professionals who render service or treatment under the direction of, 或者与, a physician in accordance with the state’s statutes, 规则, 法规. 作为医疗团队的一员, services provided by athletic trainers include patient care in five domains of clinical practice: prevention; clinical evaluation and diagnosis; immediate care; treatment and rehabilitation; and organization and professional health and well-being.
The Master of 体育训练 is designed for individuals who did not earn an 本科 degree in 体育训练 or did not earn certification as an Athletic Trainer in their 本科 major.

The professional athletic training program has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of 体育训练 Education (CAATE) since 2001 and was granted 10 years of continuing accreditation of the Master of 体育训练 (MAT) program in 2023. Historically, it has been the largest producer of athletic trainers in the state.

A student applying to this program must complete an application through 体育训练 Centralized Application Service (ATCAS), submit all required documentation to this platform, and pay the ATCAS application fee. The University provides graduate assistantships as a means of financial support. They are intended as a way to facilitate a student's progress to degree while providing important professional development.

To be eligible for an assistantship a student must, generally,
- be admitted unconditionally as a degree-seeking student into a graduate academic program, or have a minimum of 120 本科 hours if in an integrated degree program

- be enrolled full-time (typically at least 9 credit hours during the fall or spring semesters, or at least 6 hours during the summer session).
